Petra is back. After being out for six months due to a home invasion that resulted in a knife attack and a left hand injury, Petra Kvitova won her opening match at Roland Garros on Sunday with a straight sets 6-3, 6-2. win over Julia Boserup.
The two-time Wimbledon champion started with a 3-0 lead in the opening set and easily taking it 6-3. Kvitova broke in the opening game of the second set and consolidated the break. She broke again in the seventh game and served for the match in the eighth game, taking it 6-3, 6-2.
Kvitova will face No. 15 seed Bethanie Mattek-Sands or Evgeniya Rodina in the second round.
